Nine outstanding students from Newman Senior Technical College, Port Macquarie, have proudly represented the Diocese at the 2025 National WorldSkills Championships, held in Brisbane last week, bringing home an impressive haul of medals and showcasing the strength of Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETiS) programs.
WorldSkills Australia is the nation’s largest trade and skills competition, bringing together thousands of young people from across the country in areas as diverse as construction, healthcare, business, and technology, celebrating excellence in vocational education.
Newman achieved an impressive total of six medals from students across Business Services, Healthcare, Electrotechnology, Wall & Floor Tiling, and Brick & Blocklaying, showcasing their exceptional dedication and skill.
‘We are incredibly proud of all students who competed at the national level. Their results are a credit to their individual efforts, their trainers, and the College’s VET programs. These achievements showcase the real-world capabilities our students are developing and their potential to become leaders in their chosen industries,’ said Principal Mark Nunan.
