Child Protection – Working with Children Check

All applicants registering or applying for work in the Diocese of Lismore are required to undergo the Working with Children Check to meet current Child Protection Legislation in NSW.

How to Apply
Workers and volunteers will have a simple three-step process when applying for a Working With Children Check:

Step 1:     Go to www.newcheck.kids.nsw.gov.au and fill in the online form. If you can’t access the online system, call a Customer Support Officer on  (02) 9286 7219 for assistance with your application. You will receive an email with an APP number.

Step 2:     Take the application number (APP) to a NSW Motor Registry or NSW Council Agency  and have your identity confirmed (You will need to take appropriate identification with you ) and pay the fee where applicable.

Step 3:     You will receive your WWC status via email or post – you need to supply this to the Catholic Schools Office for verification.

How much does it cost?

The Working With Children Check will cost $80 for paid workers and self-employed people and is valid for a five-year period.

There is no fee for volunteers, authorised carers, adults living in a carer home, students on placement and prospective adoptive parents.
