The Catholic Education Office Lismore will offer one scholarship each year to a student enrolling in a three year Liberal Arts degree at Campion College and then intending to complete a one year Teacher Education degree. The scholarship will be valued at $5,000 a year and paid at the successful completion of each year's study. The total value to the student over the four years of formal study will be $20,000.

Scholarship Conditions

  • Applicants for this scholarship must be enrolled in a three year liberal arts degree at Campion College.
  • On the successful conclusion of the liberal arts degree applicants must then enrol in an approved tertiary education course enabling them to meet the New South Wales Institute of Teachers accreditation requirements.
  • Applicants must express a commitment in their first year of study at the College to teach in a Diocese of Lismore systemic school.
  • Applicants must accept an offer made by a systemic school in the Diocese of Lismore and remain in that school for a minimum for two years. Any offer will be made following their presentation to a local interview panel.
  • Catholic Education Office staff will assist with interview preparation and promote the interests of the student to school communities.
  • The scholarship will be managed by the Catholic Education Office Lismore in association with staff from Campion College.
  • The scholarship will be disbursed at the rate of $5,000 per year with the payments to be made at the conclusion of the academic year on or around December. Advice on the taxation implications of this scholarship can be obtained from the Financial Consultant at the Catholic Education Office.
  • The Catholic Education Office reserves the right to terminate the scholarship for persons who consistently fail course and college requirements.
  • Applicants must be Catholic, preferably from the Lismore Diocese and be able to supply a current Parish Priest referee statement.
  • Application forms are available from the Catholic Education Office Lismore and Campion College.
  • Applications are to be forwarded to the Catholic Education Office Lismore by the closing date indicated on the Application Form.
  • Applications for the scholarship close at the end of Term 1 of each school year. Shortlisting and interviews will follow and the successful scholarship holder will be notified by the end of Term 2 of the school year.
  • A joint Catholic Education Office / Campion College representative panel will shortlist and interview candidates for the scholarship.
  • The venue for the interviews will depend upon the number of applicants for this scholarship.

  • It is expected that the scholarship holder maintains contact with staff at the Catholic Education Office during the years leading up to graduation.
