In the Diocese of Lismore, secondary schools are invited to participate in annual carnivals for Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics. These major events also serve as a selection process for Lismore Diocesan teams. Children may progress from school level, to Diocesan, to Polding, to NSW PSSA and ultimately National Level in selected sports.

Secondary school children are also invited to Championship days in a number of team sports. Some of these days double up as selection trials for Wollongong Diocesan teams who will then go onto compete at the NSW CCC level. Individual trials for positions in some sports may be called at a local Diocesan level or CCC level. (see Diagram)
