Catholic Schools Office

Applications Close: 4:00 pm, Friday 6 October 2017

Catholic education in the Diocese of Lismore is a long standing provider of school education on the north coast of New South Wales. 46 Catholic primary and secondary schools operate in all major urban centres and many smaller towns from Tweed Heads to Laurieton.  All Catholic schools seek to provide a comprehensive, quality education in a welcoming and secure environment.

The Catholic Schools Office, Diocese of Lismore is calling for applications from suitably qualified professionals for the position of Pastoral Care Consultant.

A revised Pastoral Care Policy and associated Pastoral Care Framework were ratified in early 2017.  These ensure Pastoral Care is central to education, permeating all aspects of school life, emphasising the critical importance of a whole-school approach directed towards the well being of students and staff.

The Catholic Worldview provides the context for pastoral care in Catholic schools; that authentic relationships in all areas of school life are central to improved well being; that a whole school approach requires systems and structures that help to facilitate quality pastoral care across all key domains of practice in schools (curriculum and pedagogy, learning environment, partnerships and services); and that the Christian dignity, fullness of life and well being of the child or young person (student) is at the center of all policies, procedures, decisions and activities in parish schools.

This unique leadership position is pivotal to the Mission of Catholic Education in the Diocese of Lismore.  Situated within the Catholic Schools Office Directorate – Lismore,  and working closely with key personnel this role will work at School Level, and Strategic Level  to support the implementation of the Pastoral Care Framework and strengthen existing pastoral care and well being initiatives across schools in the Diocese.

The Pastoral Care Consultant will be appropriately qualified and have extensive experience relevant to designing and implementing system-wide initiatives that support whole school approaches to pastoral care and well being within Catholic education contexts.

If you believe you have these qualities and are committed to the teachings and mission of the Catholic Church, we welcome your application.
